The generator is a special direct drive design. The generator is a multiple pole generator and is directly mounted to the hub. The stator is located in the stand still outer ring and the rotor with wounded poles is the moving part at the inner side of the generator.

The converter controller is programmed with power set points for different rotor speeds. The generator is designed such that all aerodynamic forces directly are transferred to the nacelle construction without interfering with the generator-induced loads. The inverter produces unity power factor (cos =1) under all load conditions to the grid, as standard.  Negligible harmonic distortion is superimposed into existing background levels.
